Having worked with a countless number of entrepreneurs over my 20+ years of branding and advertising, time and time again it’s those with the biggest goals who have achieve the biggest successes.
When my company started working with Westbeach as their advertising agency of record, Chip Wilson told me that he was bringing us on so that we could elevate the brand so that they could sell it. A few short years later they sold to a publicly traded company out of the USA.
Chip Wilson’s next company was Lululemon, a clothing line for doing yoga. From day one Chip told me “I want to be as big as Nike”. Big goals for a small start up in a market that no one had hardly heard about. As an agency we knew that we had to build a brand that resonated with everyone, while still staying authentic to the “non consumer” yoga community. With a little bit of strategy and a good plan of action we created a brand that the world believed in and wanted to be a part of. Had we created a brand that resonated with the yoga community they would have had a lot harder time growing to the size that they have.
Since then I have worked with countless entrepreneurs and it’s the ones who have biggest goals who time and time again reach the biggest successes. In fact, if we start working with a new company and they don’t have any goals for their brand, the first thing we do is a day of goal setting workshops. Once you know where you want to be, it’s easy for us to build a powerful brand that’s going to get you there.

Colour plays an important role in influencing our emotions and, therefore, in how we connect to a brand. But can different colours really draw in more customers?
A powerful brand is far more than a cool looking logo. Anyone with a computer and a bit of experience can make a decent looking design, but where the magic lies is in being able to create a brand that people have a deep emotional connection to the moment they see it.
